Current routesHow funding usually works
There is no single UK insulation grant. There are schemes, each with its own rules, run through different routes: your council (Warm Homes: Local Grant), your energy supplier or an approved installer (ECO4), or devolved programmes in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Most current schemes target lower-income households in less efficient homes — typically EPC band D to G — and some are open to landlords with eligible tenants.
What is typically funded
- Loft insulation top-ups where the current depth is low
- Cavity wall insulation where the cavity is suitable
- Room-in-roof insulation in some cases
- Underfloor insulation, solid wall insulation and heating measures under whole-house approaches
Foil and multifoil products are rarely a named funded measure on their own. If you are searching for “free foil insulation”, the honest answer is that funding is decided by the measure and your eligibility, not by the brand of product.
We ask about the property and your circumstances, then point you at the right official route — or tell you plainly that none applies.
