Before work
Where relevant, the survey and specification consider:
- existing construction
- roof and loft condition
- ventilation
- moisture
- existing insulation
- access
- services
- intended room or loft use
- system specification, with the product certificate and target U-value stated
During work
Recorded where appropriate, in photographs and notes:
- product and system
- build-up
- joints
- fixing
- tapes
- interfaces with walls, dormers and eaves
- penetrations
- ventilation routes
- relevant air gaps
Completion
Retained for every project:
- completion photographs
- project information
- product information where applicable
- customer handover notes
- issue and escalation record if required
What every installer agrees to
Before joining
- Public liability insurance of at least £2 million, evidenced and kept current
- Registered with a relevant competent person or certification scheme for the measures they quote, and scheme-registered where funded work is offered
- A trading history we can verify and trade references checked
- No unresolved adverse findings with Trading Standards or the Advertising Standards Authority
Every quote must
- State the area in m², the materials, thicknesses and the U-value the build-up achieves
- Show the ventilation strategy for any roof or floor work
- State whether the work is notifiable and who handles building control
- Include a written workmanship guarantee and the relevant product or scheme guarantee
- Be free, in writing and valid for at least 30 days
Conduct
- Contact the homeowner about their enquiry only; no unrelated marketing
- No pressure tactics, no same-day-only pricing, no claims about grant eligibility that have not been verified
- Recommend the cheaper material where it does the same job
- Respond to a matched enquiry within two working days
If it goes wrong
Tell us. We investigate, and installers who breach the standard are removed from the network.
